Amrani avait promis de \u201csauver\u201d les n\u00e9nuphars. Il a tenu promesse<\/strong>\u00a0et avec lui la ville de Rabat a perdu un de ses plus grands serviteurs. M. Amrani nous a en effet quitt\u00e9s le 4 janvier 2014 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 56 ans.<br \/><strong>Sans son travail inlassable, la ville de Rabat n\u2019aurait probablement jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 class\u00e9e \u201cPatrimoine mondial de l\u2019UNESCO. Inaugur\u00e9 en 2013 par S.M. Mohammed VI, le jardin d\u2019essais n\u2019a ouvert qu\u2019en 2015.\n\nJean-Claude Nicolas Forestier, le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre architecte-paysagiste en fut l\u2019initiateur dans les ann\u00e9es 1914, mais il fut vraiment cr\u00e9\u00e9 dans les ann\u00e9es 1927-1928 et Gaston HEBERT, Ing\u00e9nieur Horticole en a \u00e9t\u00e9 son 1er directeur. Le jardin d\u2019essai, jardin exp\u00e9rimental comme l\u2019indique son nom, regroupait \u00e0 l\u2019origine plus de deux cent cinquante vari\u00e9t\u00e9s diff\u00e9rentes d\u2019arbres fruitiers et d\u2019ornements, provenant de tous les coins de la terre.\n\nPetit cours d\u2019histoire : le jardin d\u2019essais de Rabat s\u2019\u00e9crit bien avec un S \u00e0 la fin. Et ce pour bien le distinguer du jardin d\u2019essai d\u2019Alger, le 1er jardin dans le genre, bien plus ancien puisque datant de 1832.\n\n\u201cEntretenu\u201d par l\u2019\u00e9cole d\u2019Agriculture qui le jouxte, le jardin d\u2019essais de Rabat que tous les botanistes du monde connaissent, se mourrait par manque de moyens et d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat. Alors que l\u2019on s\u2019extasie facilement devant les jardins de Majorelle de Marrakech, on avait oubli\u00e9 ce joyau de jardin botanique.\n\nM.Hassan Amrani, Wali de Rabat, l\u2019avait promis : le jardin d\u2019essais a bien \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9habilit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019occasion du r\u00e9am\u00e9nagement de l\u2019avenue Annasr (avenue de la Victoire), qui scinde les deux parties du jardin d\u2019essais d\u00e9sormais ouvertes toutes les deux. \n27 millions de Dh ont \u00e9t\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaires, dont 15 millions de Dh allou\u00e9s par le Fonds Hassan II, pour sa r\u00e9habilitation. Ce jardin de plusieurs hectares, trait d\u2019union entre la \u201cvieille\u201d ville et l\u2019Agdal, sous les fen\u00eatres de l\u2019Ambassade de France, \u00e9tait en effet \u201cabandonn\u00e9\u201d depuis des ann\u00e9es.\n\nM.Amrani, a peut-\u00eatre sauv\u00e9 le jardin d\u2019essais et ses magnifiques n\u00e9nuphars! Les Marocains et les Rbatis en particulier, lui en seront \u00e0 jamais reconnaissants, car ils avaient besoin d\u2019un tel espace ! Rendons hommage \u00e0 M.
