Certes, c\u2019est bien ici dans cette \u00e9l\u00e9gante art\u00e8re que se sont install\u00e9s d\u00e8s le d\u00e9but du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle les colons europ\u00e9ens venus s\u2019installer \u00e0 Rabat, mais il constituait en fait la d\u00e9limitation entre la kasbah tenue par les Hornacheros et la m\u00e9dina occup\u00e9e les Morisques Andalous venus d\u2019Estramadure qui ont, v\u00e9ritablement, cr\u00e9\u00e9 la m\u00e9dina dans la mesure o\u00f9 avant leur arriv\u00e9e, la m\u00e9dina n\u2019\u00e9tait constitu\u00e9e que de quelques maisons occup\u00e9s par les\u00a0<strong>waqqasa (Oukassa)<\/strong>, familles de marins \u00e9tablis dans l\u2019estuaire du Bouregreg. Bab El Alou veut dire \u201cporte de l\u2019hauteur\u201d en arabe.\u00a0<\/p><p>Au d\u00e9bouch\u00e9 de cette voie vous trouverez de nombreuses petites rues qui vous vous faire p\u00e9n\u00e9trer au coeur de la m\u00e9dina. C\u2019est dans ces quartiers hauts de la m\u00e9dina que s\u2019install\u00e8rent les premiers occupants de la m\u00e9dina au XVII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle.<\/p><p>Le\u00a0<strong>ch\u00e2teau de Moulay er-Rachid<\/strong>\u00a0(ex-prison el-Alou) : construit entre 1666 et 1671, ce ch\u00e2teau se trouve dans la partie haute du cimeti\u00e8re el-Alou, \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du boulevard du m\u00eame nom. Sa situation, nettement en retrait du rivage et sur la hauteur, s\u2019explique probablement par le fait qu\u2019il devait \u00eatre destin\u00e9 non seulement \u00e0 contribuer \u00e0 la d\u00e9fense de la ville contre une attaque venant de l\u2019oc\u00e9an, mais aussi \u00e0 surveiller la qasbah.\u00a0<\/p><p>On s\u2019aper\u00e7oit que la petite et \u00e9l\u00e9gante\u00a0<strong>mosqu\u00e9e Sidi Fatah<\/strong>\u00a0a chang\u00e9 de couleur, de blanche, elle est devenue ocre au gr\u00e9 d\u2019une r\u00e9novation. Depuis le r\u00e8glement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de voirie et de construction de la Ville de Rabat dat\u00e9 du 8 janvier 1919, les enduits des murs devaient \u00eatre r\u00e9alis\u00e9s \u00e0 la chaux blanche et les devantures en bois des magasins ainsi que les rideaux m\u00e9talliques devaient \u00eatre peints en bleu, les fa\u00e7ades des constructions des habitations de la m\u00e9dina devaient \u00eatre blanches.\u00a0<\/p><p>D\u00e9sormais, pour la composition urbaine et architecturale, les couleurs des fa\u00e7ades doivent s\u2019inspirer des couleurs des m\u00e9dinas et quartiers traditionnels et rester dans des tons clairs : blanc, cr\u00e8me, ocres pales ou moyens. Fini aussi pour la d\u00e9coration des portes et volets l\u2019utilisation ponctuelle de couleurs vives.
